Assault of the Crimson Marauders is a dramatic key-art illustration from my original world. This scene captures a desperate last-stand moment as the two protagonists battle wave after wave of monstrous Crimson Marauders beneath a blazing, blood-red horizon. The image blends stylized action, creature design, and high-energy composition to showcase the brutality and chaos of the encounter.

My Role

Responsible for all aspects of the project, from modeling and rigging to animation, rendering, and post-production.

Responsibilities:

Concept & Scene Direction: Designed the chaotic assault scenario, establishing narrative tension, enemy scale, crowd composition, and the intense red color palette.
Character Modeling & Posing: Modeled and posed the two main characters, creating expressive silhouettes and dynamic stances that anchor the scene.
Creature Design: Sculpted and textured the Crimson Marauders, emphasizing their unsettling forms, exaggerated mouths, and swarm-like presence.
Environment & Set Dressing: Built the battlefield environment, including corpses, terrain, debris, and atmospheric elements to heighten the sense of overwhelming danger.
Lighting & Rendering: Developed a highly stylized lighting setup using harsh reds, rim lighting, and backlit silhouettes to match the apocalyptic tone of the scene.
FX & Simulation Elements: Implemented muzzle flashes, dust, atmospheric haze, and impact FX to enhance motion and chaos within the illustration.
Compositing & Final Polish: Composited the final passes with heavy color grading, grit, glow, atmospheric overlays, and texture treatments to achieve the gritty, high-impact final look.
Graphic Design Elements: Integrated the Thibodeaux branding and silhouettes to tie the piece into the larger visual identity of the world.
