Pome 2020

“Pome” is an original character design and illustration exploring mystical beauty, cosmic symbolism, and ornamental detail. This piece is part of my ongoing universe—an expansion of the stylistic and technical foundations established in earlier characters such as Cambi. Pome holds a high place within the hierarchy of the fairies, someone more advanced, a philosopher, a prophet, a keeper of vast knowledge within the realm of the autumn fairies of Canari.

Sole Creator: I handled every aspect of Pome’s creation—from the conceptual vision to the final rendered images. This includes:

Responsibilities:

Concept & Design

  • Developed Pome’s lore as an Astral Oracle, channeling celestial energy and ancient mechanical aesthetics.

  • Designed the character to blend organic fairy features with cosmic ornamentation—particularly the intricate gyroscopic halo and luminous accents.

Modeling & Sculpting

  • Used Cambi as a base mesh for model edits, establishing elegant anatomical proportions and stylized fairy features.

  • Modeled all decorative elements, including:

    • The multi-ring astral halo device

    • Emissive hair ornaments

    • Jewelry and limb-wrapping accessories

    • Wing structures with patterned surface details

  • Created a clean, animation-ready topology used in both posed renders and future character reuse.

Texturing & Shading

  • Painted the character’s skin, markings, and ornamentation by hand to emphasize softness, luminosity, and ethereal qualities.

  • Used custom emissive shaders for glowing elements across the design (hair bulbs, halo rings, wing lights).

  • Crafted unique material responses for the metallic halo, organic skin, and iridescent wings.

Rigging & Pose Development

  • Rigged Pome for expressive posing, allowing fluid gestures that evoke floating, divination, and serene celestial presence.

  • Set up deformation controls for wings, hair, and ornamental pieces to support dynamic silhouettes.

Lighting & Rendering

  • Built a lighting setup centered on strong cosmic rim light and dramatic emissive contrast, reinforcing her role as an astral figure.

  • Used layered lighting to bring attention to eyes, hair glows, and the halo’s rotating mechanics.

  • Rendered final images with a balance of soft ethereal atmosphere and sharp golden highlights.

Environment & Composition

  • Designed a surreal astral environment composed of marble-like ruins and reflective water, emphasizing mystery and scale.

  • Composed the final shots to highlight both Pome’s delicate presence and the grandeur of her symbolic crown device.
