Unreal Engine 5 Swimming Test Animation
A paleo-inspired animation depicting a Caypullisaurus ichthyosaur hunting among schools of fish. The piece emphasizes naturalistic motion, environmental immersion, and educational storytelling within a cinematic underwater setting. I also did a seperate test animation in Unreal Engine 5 to experiment with landscape creation.
My Role:
I was responsible for all aspects of production, including:
Modeling: Created the Ichthyosaur model, focusing on anatomical accuracy and streamlined aquatic form.
Rigging & Animation: Utilized 3ds Max CATrig to bring the ichthyosaur to life with fluid, natural swimming motion and predatory behavior. Rigged crab model.
Environment: Integrated and customized environmental assets from Unreal Engine Fab to build an immersive ocean setting
Texturing: Textured Ichtyosaur model and edited crab bitmaps.
Particle Effects: Designed and implemented particle systems for dynamic fish schools to enhance the hunting sequence.
Lighting & Rendering: Developed underwater lighting setups and rendered final sequences for a cinematic look.
Compositing: Assembled final animation passes into a polished presentation.
Tools: 3DS Max, Unreal Engine 5, CATrig, Unreal Engine Fab, Photoshop, After Effects (for compositing)
