Dagger Cartoon Character 3D Concept 2024

A short 3D character animation featuring my dog, Dagger, reimagined as a vintage airplane pilot. This project serves as a fun personal piece and a showcase of full 3D production skills from character creation to final composited animation.

My Role

Responsible for all aspects of the project, from modeling and rigging to animation, rendering, and post-production.

Responsibilities:

  • Modeling & UVs: Modeled Dagger and his airplane, completed full UV unwrapping, and created clean, animation-ready topology.

  • Retopology: Retopologized character assets using TopoGun 2 for optimal deformation.

  • Texturing: Created all textures in Substance Painter, developing stylized materials for both character and props.

  • Rigging: Built a complete character animation rig using the 3DS Max CAT system and Dummy constraints for the airplane.

  • Animation: Animated Dagger and the airplane for a fun, stylized intro sequence.

  • Lighting & Rendering: Rendered the project in Corona Renderer with a clean, soft cartoon look.

  • Compositing & Post: Composited final frames and applied post-effects, color tweaks, and polish in After Effects.
