Denice “Coyote” Evolution 2018-2023

Denice is a long-term character project that has evolved alongside my artistic growth. Over the years, I’ve revisited, redesigned, and refined her look—from anatomy and silhouette to materials and presentation. She exists as a core character within a larger world I’ve been building, making her development both a technical study and a narrative-driven design exploration.

My Role

Sole Creator: Responsible for the full character pipeline, from concept refinement to final presentation.

Responsibilities:

  • Concept & Design Evolution: Expanded and refined Denice’s design across multiple iterations, improving visual identity, silhouette clarity, and thematic cohesion as my skills progressed.

  • Stylized Sculpting: Resculpted anatomy, forms, and proportions to achieve a stronger, more expressive stylized representation.

  • Retopology & UVs: Updated topology and UV layouts over time to improve efficiency, deformation quality, and lookdev flexibility.

  • Texturing & Materials: Reworked textures and materials through several passes, gradually enhancing surface readability, color design, and stylized detail.

  • Rigging & Posing: Built custom rigs for expressive posing to match her personality and narrative role within the world.

  • Lighting & Rendering: Updated lighting setups with each iteration, creating increasingly polished hero renders and mood shots.

  • Compositing & Polish: Added post-processing improvements—color grading, rim highlights, subtle FX—to help define her evolving visual identity.

  • World Integration: Continued shaping Denice’s character to align with the lore, tone, and thematic style of the original world she belongs to.

  • Presentation: Produced updated turntables, close-ups, and progression renders to showcase how the character has transformed over time.
